HOUSE
Camera House, Australia’s largest specialty photographic retail chain, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2023. Since its establishment in 1983, it has grown to encompass over 65 stores nationwide.
After almost half a century of growth, Camera House recognised the need for a refreshed look to stay relevant. The old branding, which had been in place for over two decades, reflected a more traditional aesthetic suited to the era of film and early digital photography.
The new branding focuses on modernising Camera House's image to better connect with today’s consumers. It features a refreshed logo and a contemporary visual style designed to appeal to a new generation of photographers and content creators.
This transformation included changes in their website design, in-store experience, and overall brand communication, and that's where we came in.
Camera House needed a dynamic, engaging video that spoke to the target audience and communicated the new brand persona: a relevant, dynamic, yet highly reputed industry leader.
We wanted something trendy, fast-paced, and fun. Our goal was to create a video that highlighted Camera House's expertise and authority in the photography and videography market and their new tone of voice, but also something enjoyable to watch. We aimed for a piece that photographers and content creators would appreciate, not just another commercial interruption on social media.
In the story, the camera symbolises joy, exploration, and companionship—our protagonist's partner as she explores and lives her life.
We crafted a narrative featuring traditional Australian sites as part of a sequenced match cut, honouring the brand's commitment to the Australian market, standards, and values. The piece employs a mix of cinematic techniques, including cinematic shots and trendy styles like the match cut, collage, and fast camera work.
The music was composed with a modern house and drum 'n' bass style, featuring synthesisers from the '80s. This created a semi-surreal, joyful atmosphere that reinforced the exploratory sentiment.
